Welcome to Montezuma County

Social Services

Montezuma County Department of Social Services will collaborate and advocate to help children, families, and individuals work towards stability through the utilization of programs and resources.

Community members will receive services to promote self-sufficiency, independence, safety, and well-being.

Child Support Awareness Month :

Here is some data to consider:

• Children who receive financial support from both parents do better academically;
• Children who have a relationship with both parents meet developmental milestones more timely;
• When a young child’s family experiences an income increase of $250 a month, not only does it help their family now, but the child grows up to earn about 17% more as an adult; and,
• Child support makes up approximately 41% of a family’s income – we are truly a cornerstone to ensuring stability in the lives of children.
