The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners is seeking to appoint two Montezuma County residents to serve on a Citizen Review Panel to review grievances in regard to Montezuma County Department of Social Services employee conduct.  The panel has no role or authority in making recommendations regarding the findings of abuse or neglect, seeking relief from court decisions, interfering with civil or criminal investigations, or other child welfare-related matters.  This process provides citizens with an opportunity to express their concerns to an independent group of citizens after internal departmental grievance procedures have been exhausted.

 Members of such citizen review panels should be a representative of the community, have demonstrated personal or professional knowledge and experience with children, and not be employees or agents of the state department or any county department.  The appointed panel member must be the parent of a minor child at the time of his or her appointment in order to serve on this panel.
