The largest, most important concrete pour of the project took place on Wednesday, when the top half of the wing walls, abutments, and the deck of the bridge were poured. Work started at 3:30am to avoid the heat of the day. Did you know that concrete creates its own heat as it cures? Between that, and the hot afternoon temperatures, there would have been a greater risk of the concrete cracking. Starting early, while it was cooler, mitigated that risk. Now, while the concrete cures for the next 7 days, maturity meters will be monitored and strength tests will take place.
County Road N remains closed between Roads 21 and 22.
We’d like to remind everyone that the bridge is out and there is no way to drive through the construction site for any reason. Please use the designated detours.
As the work progresses, information will be posted on the Montezuma County Facebook page as well as this page. If you have questions or concerns, please contact D & L Construction at 970-565-2087.
