Special Session Accomplishments

The following bills passed the legislature during the Special Session and are on the way to Governor Polis, he is expected to sign all bills.   I just thought I would share this information with you. If your organization applies for any of these grants, our department will write a letter of support for your organization.

Special Session Accomplishments

 

Small Business Relief

SB 20B-001 provides $57 million in direct relief to small and minority-owned businesses and arts organizations. 
HB 20B-1004 temporarily allows restaurants and bars to retain state sales tax for 4 months, up to $8,000 for each location.
HB20B-1005 enables local governments to limit restaurant delivery fees levied by third-parties such as DoorDash, UberEats, etc.

Housing Support

SB 20B-002 and SB20B-003 provide $60 million in housing and utility assistance for families to pay rent/utilities, avoid foreclosure, or use as eviction legal defense.

 Childcare Support

HB 20B-1002 provides $45 million in funding to support child care providers, keeping thousands of providers open for families.

Broadband for Education

HB 20B-1001 expands internet access for remote learning through $20 million worth of grants

Food Pantry & Unemployment Benefits

HB 20B-1003 provides $5 million for food pantries across the state to help feed families during the holiday and winter months. Further, the legislature took emergency action to extend unemployment benefits for thousands of workers. 

 

COVID-19 Emergency Response

SB20B-004 allocates $100 million towards COVID-19 emergency response, including for expanded testing and medical care sites.
