Public Health Nurse

Strong families start with a great nurse! Montezuma County Public Health Department has a part time 20 hour position for a Registered Nurse/BSN required in the Nurse Family Partnership program. Hourly rate $40/hour. This program delivers education and support to first-time parents using an evidence-based model. Must be willing to travel for program training.  Experience in public health and/or maternal-child health preferred, bilingual a plus. Job Title: Public Health Nurse/Nurse Family Partnership Nurse Home Visitor (Part Time)

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Responsible for ensuring the provision of the core public health functions in a professional, coordinated, and collaborative manner. This position assists in promoting the health and well-being of the community, families and individuals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may be one or more of the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

Attends all required trainings and meetings for the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program

Perform nurse home visits following the NFP guidelines and curriculum

Refers clients to other community agencies for assistance as needed

Provides immunization services when needed

Conducts communicable disease reporting and investigation when needed

Supervises paraprofessional staff when needed

Obtain and maintain emergency preparedness and response certifications

Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups or employees.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate basic figures for budget and programmatic purposes

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet software, program management software and database software.

Certificates and Licenses: Current Colorado Registered Nurse License, current liability/malpractice insurance and a current Colorado driver’s license
