Mission Statement
The mission of the Cortez Cemetery District is to honor life in all that we do. We provide respectful and compassionate interment services that meet the cultural, economic, religious, and social needs of our diverse communities.
The management and maintenance of the cemetery are directed toward preserving the records and history of the founders and citizens who are at rest here, serving as a resource to all its citizens.
The Cortez Cemetery District preserves and honors the heritage of past generations, serves and respects the needs of the present generation, and provides a legacy for future generations.

Hours: Open Monday through Friday, from sunup to sundown.
- The cemetery is a not-for-profit special government district.
- Established over 100 years ago, with approximately 7,000 graves currently on site.
- Available plots with room to expand.
- Columbarium niches available (above-ground burial for cremated remains).
- Groundskeeper and manager are on site Monday through Friday.
- Veteran discounts available for all honorably discharged veterans with a DD214 form.
- A directory with maps is located at the entrance to the cemetery.
- The groundskeeper and crew maintain the property to the best of their ability; however, this is not a perpetual care cemetery.
Board Meetings: Held every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
