The success of the democratic process requires fair and open elections which accurately reflect the intent of the electorate, therefore, it is our mission to conduct accurate and fair elections and in so doing protect and promote public trust and confidence by the way in which we conduct those elections. We are responsible for the integrity of the election process, and in so doing; these principles must be placed above personal or partisan gain.
The November 5, 2024 Montezuma County General Election will be an all-mail ballot delivery. Ballots will be mailed to all active eligible registered electors starting October 11. To be counted, mail ballots must be returned to and in the hands of the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder no later than 7:00 pm on Election Day, November 5, 2024. Postmarks do not count.
Important Dates
October 2, 2024 – The Logic and Accuracy test will be held at the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder’s office starting at 8:00am. This is a public test and all are welcome to attend.
October 11, 2024 – Ballots will be mailed to all eligible electors
October 21, 2024 – November 4, 2024(M-F): The Cortez Vote Center is open at the Montezuma County Annex 1 at 107 N. Chestnut St from 8am-5pm. All 24/7 Ballot Dropbox locations will be open.
Saturday, November 2 2024– The Cortez Vote Center is open at the Montezuma County Annex 1 at 107 N. Chestnut St from 9am-1pm.
Monday November 4, 2024– Towaoc Vote Center opens at Ute Mountain Ute Community Center at 485 Sunset Blvd from 8am -5pm
Tuesday, November 5, 2024 – Election Day – Cortez, Towaoc, Mancos (Mancos Library 211 W 1st St) and Dolores (Dolores Library 1002 Railroad Ave) Vote Centers are open from 7am-7pm.
***Please note that the Motor Vehicle office in Cortez will be closed on Election Day. You will still be able to perform motor vehicle transactions online at dmv.colorado.gov.

WHO CONDUCTS THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?
In a General Election, the Clerk shall select a testing board comprising at least two persons, one from each major political party.
WHAT IS A LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?
The purpose of the Logic and Accuracy Test is to verify the voting system is properly configured and programmed to accurately tabulate votes. The Logic and Accuracy Test verifies that the system correctly records all valid votes, under votes, over votes, and blank votes.
HOW DOES THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST VERIFY THE SYSTEM IS CORRECTLY RECORDING ALL VOTES?
The county prepares a test deck that includes:
In addition to the county test deck, each member of the Testing Board must mark 25 test ballots and retain a record of the tally.
The county and Testing Board must observe the tabulation of all test ballots, compare the tabulation with the previously retained records of the test vote count, and correct any discrepancies before the voting devices may be used to tabulate votes in the election.
WHO MAY ATTEND THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?
The Logic and Accuracy Test is open to representatives of the political parties, the press, and the public.
WHEN WILL THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST BE CONDUCTED?
The Logic and Accuracy Test must be completed no later than 21 days before the Election. Montezuma County’s test will be October 2, 2024 at 8:00am.
Pursuant to 1-5-102.9 (1)(c)(II) C.R.S., Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder Kim Percell is seeking written comments from residents of Montezuma County regarding the designation of a voter service and polling center for the 2024 General Election. C.R.S. 1-5-102.9(1)(c)(II) requires a county clerk and recorder to solicit public comment concerning the location of voter service and polling centers for General Elections.
“In designating voter service and polling center locations, each county clerk and recorder shall consider the following factors to address the needs of the county:
Counties with fewer than 25,000 active registered electors, as that term is described in Section 1-5-102.9 (1) (a) for General Elections, each county clerk and recorder shall designate a minimum number of voter service and polling centers, as follows:
