Montezuma County Administrator

The Montezuma County Administrator reports directly to the three-member Board of County Commissioners and serves as the chief executive for the county government. This position is non-political in nature and is responsible for implementing board policies, guiding daily operations, and preparing the county’s annual budget in the role of Budget Officer.

The Administrator ensures that county services and programs operate in alignment with the goals and objectives established by the elected Board of Commissioners, maintaining transparency, efficiency, and accountability across departments.

County Administrator Responsibilities

The County Administrator is responsible for:

  • Preparing the county budget as the Budget Officer
  • Annual mill levy certification
  • Providing the Board of County Commissioners with the information they need for making decisions
  • Implementing policies adopted and approved by the Board of County Commissioners
  • Acting as a liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and other county departments, governmental entities, and the business community
  • Managing and supervising the following departments:
    • Federal Lands
    • Fairgrounds
    • GIS & Mapping
    • Grounds and Buildings
    • Finance
    • Human Resources
    • IT Department
    • Landfill
    • Planning and Zoning
    • Public Health Agency
    • Public Transportation
    • Road and Bridge
    • Weed Program
    • Senior Services
    • Social Services
    • Veterans Services
