The Montezuma County Administrator reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners, implements policies, and prepares the county budget as the Budget Officer

The County Administrator reports directly to the three-member Board of Commissioners and serves as a chief executive for the organization. The administrator position is non-political in nature. The administrator guides day-to-day operations of the county government, in accordance with the policies, goals, and objectives established by the elected Board of Commissioners.

The County Administrator is responsible for:

Preparing the county budget as the Budget Officer
Annual mill levy certification
Providing the Board of County Commissioners with the information they need for making decisions
Implementing policies adopted and approved by the Board of County Commissioners
Acting as a liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and other county departments, governmental entities, and the business community
Managing and supervising the following departments:
- Federal Lands
- Fairgrounds
- GIS & Mapping
- Grounds and Buildings
- Finance
- Human Resources
- IT Department
- Landfill
- Planning and Zoning
- Public Health Agency
- Public Transportation
- Road and Bridge
- Weed Program
- Senior Services
- Social Services
- Veterans Services
