Public Notice: TELEPHONE AUTHORITY TO INCREASE THE 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CHARGE

Public Notice NOTICE OF APPLICATION FILED – March 5, 2020 NOTICE OF APPLICATION BY THE MONTEZUMA COUNTY EMERGENCY TELEPHONE AUTHORITY TO INCREASE THE 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CHARGE Notice is hereby given that the Montezuma County Emergency Telephone Authority has applied to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for approval to increase the current monthly 9-1-1 surcharge affecting all users of exchange telephone, wireless, wireline, and voiceover-internet-protocol (VOIP) telephone services within Montezuma and Dolores Counties from $0.70 to $1.40. The proposed effective date of the increase is July 1, 2020. As explained in the Application, the requested surcharge increase is proposed as necessary to fund expenses related to the provision of emergency telephone service, as allowed by Colorado law (C.R.S. 29-11-102 and 104). This application is available for inspection in each local office of the Application or at the CPUC. All interventions must be filed in accordance with Rule 1401 of the Commission’s Rules of Practice and procedures & Code of Colorado Regulations, 723-1. If the application is uncontested or unopposed, as evidenced through the absence of written intervention or object filings by the deadline, the Commission may determine the matter without a hearing and without further notice. The deadline for filing an intervention or Objections is April 6, 2020. If a hearing is held, members of the public may attend and make statements under oath even if they do not file written objections or requests for intervention.
