LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST

WHO CONDUCTS THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?

In a Presidential Primary Election, the Clerk shall select a testing board comprising at least two persons, one from each major political party.

WHAT IS A LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?

The purpose of the Logic and Accuracy Test is to verify the voting system is properly configured and programmed to accurately tabulate votes. The Logic and Accuracy Test verifies that the system correctly records all valid votes, under votes, over votes, and blank votes.

HOW DOES THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST VERIFY THE SYSTEM IS CORRECTLY RECORDING ALL VOTES?

The county prepares a test deck that includes:

  1. Every ballot style;
  2. A sufficient number of ballots to mark every vote position for every contest, including write-in candidates, contests that permit an elector to vote for two or more positions, and overvotes and undervotes for each contest;
  3. At least one write-in vote for each qualified write-in candidate;
  4. Ballots printed from a mobile ballot production printer; and
  5. Commercially printed ballots.

In addition to the county test deck, each member of the Testing Board must mark 25 test ballots and retain a record of the tally.

The county and Testing Board must observe the tabulation of all test ballots, compare the tabulation with the previously retained records of the test vote count, and correct any discrepancies before the voting devices may be used to tabulate votes in the election.

WHO MAY ATTEND THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST?

The Logic and Accuracy Test is open to representatives of the political parties, the press, and the public.

WHEN WILL THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TEST BE CONDUCTED?

The Logic and Accuracy Test must be completed no later than 21 days before the Election.
