Bobbi Lock called to order the regular meeting of the Montezuma County Public Health Board of Health Meeting at 1:30 on 9/24/2024 at Montezuma County BOCC Room.
Dr. Atwell shared the history of how the program was developed and how the program is working. In Montezuma County they are serving on average 30-40 people weekly on the streets. Director Lock shared how MCPHD can help support the program by being a conduit with the state for STI testing. MCPHD is also providing Narcan and fentanyl test strips to the program as needed.
Montezuma County has had 179 positive COVID’s, 12 STI’s and 13 animal bites, this quarter. MCPHD has provided 6,930 fentanyl test strips (6,850) of those were shared with a local partner; 125 boxes of Narcan.
Medicaid has increased reimbursement rates for dental, which is helping our dental program maintain financial success. MCPHD is currently in the process of doing the 5-year community survey through 10/31/2024 and have received 497 surveys so far. The applications two potential funding sources: one was denied and the other was awarded at 20% of the original ask. The department is still seeking additional funding opportunities to support the Healthy Montezuma initiative.
