Concealed Handgun Permits

Permits are processed on Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

It is the duty of the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office to protect our citizens from fraud, theft, and deceptive business practices whenever possible. To support this mission, any handgun instructor offering services to Montezuma County residents must provide proof of current and authorized certification, along with a course outline that meets the competence requirements under Colorado law.

The Certified Firearms Instructors listed on our website have submitted documentation verifying their current handgun trainer certifications and course outlines. These materials meet the legal requirements for residents applying for a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit. Copies of these documents are available for review at our office during business hours.

The choice of instructor or course is entirely up to the applicant. The Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office does not endorse or recommend any specific instructor or training program. All instructors must maintain valid certifications. This list will be updated periodically to ensure accuracy and provide our citizens with the best protection possible.
