The Detective Division consists of detectives whose primary responsibility is the follow up investigation of crimes reported to the Patrol Section. This section consists of various units dealing with homicide, robbery/assault, burglary, theft, documents, and investigations. Specialists in crime scene and evidence processing are also assigned to this section. Detectives have specialized training in crime scene processing, interview techniques, composite drawing, fingerprint lifting and analysis, photography, crime analysis, computer crimes and surveillance skills.

This section works in close conjunction with the local, state and federal forensic laboratories and maintains a constant working relationship with allied investigative agencies. When requested, the Detective Bureau assists other local police agencies with the investigation of major crimes or undercover operations.
