Call Meeting to Order

Approval of Minutes

Planning

  1. The Planning Department will present for signatures a Setback Variance submitted by
    Larry Mahaffey, on property located at 23892 Road M, Cortez, CO,
    consisting of approximately 1.12 acres, located south of Road M and west of Hwy 491,
    situated in Section 16, Township 36N, Range 16W, N.M.P.M.

 

Other items may be discussed.

Deletions/Changes to Agenda

Public Comment

The Public Comment portion of the agenda provides the public an opportunity to speak to the Board of Commissioners about issues that are not on the main agenda. Testimony relating to scheduled agenda items will not be allowed during Public Comment.

Rules of decorum will be strictly enforced. Outbursts and interruptions—including shouting, clapping, booing, laughing, or other reactions—are prohibited. Comments may only be made by Montezuma County residents who have been recognized by the Chair, are speaking into the microphone, and have stated their name and address for the record.

Each person will have 3 minutes to comment. No speaker may yield time to another. Comments shall be directed only to the Board; no comments or questions shall be directed to staff or other members of the public.

Consent Agenda

The Consent Agenda allows the Board to focus on more complex items. These items are generally non‑controversial and may be approved by a single motion. Items may be removed and addressed individually if necessary.

  • Approval of updated Procurement Policy
  • Approval of request from 12 Hours of Mesa Verde
  • Signature of Letter of Support to the State Joint Budget Committee for the Paths to Mesa Verde project
  • Approval of Request for Proposals for a pay scale and classification study for all County employees
  • Approval of Veteran’s Assistance Grant application
  • Approval of employee job change/pay schedule request from Health Department
  • Appointment of Scott Magness to Cortez Cemetery Board
  • Approval of Chipseal Oil Request for Proposals
  • Approval of Planet Excavation Change Order 2

Items Needing Individual Consideration

  • Decision related to purchase of grapple for Landfill
  • Decision related to 2026 Montezuma County Parking Lot Engineering and Quality Control bids
  • Decision on potential sales tax

Pursuant to C.R.S. Section 24‑6‑402(4)(b), the Board may move into executive session for the purpose of receiving legal advice from counsel on any item appearing before the Board on this agenda.

Executive session for purposes of receiving legal advice pursuant to C.R.S. § 24‑6‑402(4)(b) on the specific legal question of:
What are the rules for government actors and employees as it relates to discussing or promoting proposed ballot measures?
