The Public Comment portion of the agenda provides the public an opportunity to speak to the Board of Commissioners about issues that are not on the main agenda. Testimony relating to scheduled agenda items will not be allowed during Public Comment.
Rules of decorum will be strictly enforced. Outbursts and interruptions—including shouting, clapping, booing, laughing, or other reactions—are prohibited. Comments may only be made by Montezuma County residents who have been recognized by the Chair, are speaking into the microphone, and have stated their name and address for the record.
Each person will have 3 minutes to comment. No speaker may yield time to another. Comments shall be directed only to the Board; no comments or questions shall be directed to staff or other members of the public.
The Consent Agenda allows the Board to focus on more complex items. These items are generally non‑controversial and may be approved by a single motion. Items may be removed and addressed individually if necessary.
Pursuant to C.R.S. Section 24‑6‑402(4)(b), the Board may move into executive session for the purpose of receiving legal advice from counsel on any item appearing before the Board on this agenda.
Executive session for purposes of receiving legal advice pursuant to C.R.S. § 24‑6‑402(4)(b) on the specific legal question of:
What are the rules for government actors and employees as it relates to discussing or promoting proposed ballot measures?
In addition, the Board of County Commissioners shall conduct such further business as may come before said meeting.
